Internal Transfer Program Overview

The Internal Transfer Program (ITP) Office is located in 120 Hayden Hall. Each term the internal transfer advisors schedule walk-in hours. To find out the hours for the current term you can consult the website at www.neu.edu/registrar, stop by 120 Hayden Hall, or call 617.373.2307.

To participate in the ITP, students must be in good standing and have a reasonable expectation of becoming acceptable to the major of their choice within one academic term. Students not in good academic standing must meet with their current academic advisor to determine the best course of action for their particular situation.

The ITP works with students to help them meet the eligibility requirements for the major of their choice. While in the program, students will be on an academic contract. Courses taken while in the Internal Transfer Program may apply to transfer eligibility only. Final assessment of course work and evaluation of transfer credit will be completed by the final destination college upon entry. It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to meet the degree requirements for his/her new major.

Students who are unsuccessful in their bid to transfer will be blocked from future registrations until they have been admitted to an alternate major. During the term immediately after their denial, students must take courses required for the new major.
