Semester Grades—TranscriptsBeginning Fall 2003, Northeastern University transcripts will include the statement "Northeastern University converted to the semester system in the Fall 2003" for students who were enrolled in the Fall 2003 semester AND who were enrolled under the quarter calendar. Students in the Full Time Day Undergraduate programs, Part-Time Engineering, Graduate Schools and the Lowell Institute School will have their records maintained using semester hour values, effective with Fall 2003 grades. Transcripts will show adjusted totals for Earned Hours, Hours Taken and Quality Points as semester credits at the point of conversion. Individual quarter course information will not be converted to semester equivalents. The transcript is an historical record which documents the student's registration and academic performance term by term. Therefore, the transcript shows the actual course values (quarter or semester) under which courses are taken. Courses taken prior to Fall 2003 will be recorded as quarter credits and courses taken beginning Fall 2003 will be recorded as semester credits. A statement (see below) will be imbedded into the transcript at that point between the last course taken in quarter hour value and the first course taken in semester hour value. EFFECTIVE FALL 2003, NU CONVERTED FROM A QUARTER TO A SEMESTER CALENDAR This statement will be followed by a bar similar to the one below, delineating grades in semester values:
Your Fall 2003 grades will be listed under this box. The box located at the bottom right section of your transcript will be modified to reflect your specific totals that have been converted from quarters to semesters PRIOR to Fall 2003 PLUS your Fall 2003 totals. It will look similar to the box below: SEMESTER VALUES
