Fee Descriptions


Campus Recreation Fee

This fee is assessed during terms students are enrolled in classes and covers admission to home athletic events, use of the Marino Fitness Center, the SquashBusters athletic facility, and the Cabot Gym (fitness and pool). This fee also will support the future construction of athletic fields and facilities.


Student Center Fee

Students pay a student center fee per in-school semester to support the Curry Student Center.


Summer Orientation Fee

A nonrefundable fee will be charged to the student’s account upon registration for the orientation session. This fee covers all program materials, meals, staffing, and housing. Any parent or family member wishing to participate in the concurrent parent and family orientation session may register and must also include a nonrefundable fee with his or her registration. There are separate fees for housing for the parent and family orientation programs.


Student Activity Fee

This annual student endorsed fee provides support for student organizations, clubs and entertainment events throughout the school year.


Residence Activity Fee

All students living in the residence hall system pay a fee for activities sponsored by the Residence Student Association.


Northeastern University Health Plan (NUSHP) Fee

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires that all students who have matriculated and carry a certain course load or are enrolled in a full-time program have hospital insurance. Students who are covered under a comparable domestic hospital insurance plan may waive the Health Services fee by going to the self-service tab on your myNEU portal.
