• Donor Recognition Reception at NU Night at the Pops

President and Mrs. Joseph Aoun hosted a special reception prior to Northeastern Night at the Pops to recognize Northeastern’s most generous annual donors. After the reception, renowned conductor, Keith Lockhart, H’98, led the performance honoring one of America’s greatest composers and conductors, Leonard Bernstein. To cap off the evening, Chairman of the Board Neal Finnegan, BA’61, H’98, guest conducted Stars and Stripes Forever.

• President Hosts Honorary Degree Recipients Dinner

President Aoun asked this year’s honorary degree recipients to reflect on their own commencements during a special dinner held in their honor. Those who attended the dinner included Nancy Zimpher, president of the University of Cincinnati; the Honorable Margot Botsford, Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Court; Dr. Sylvia Hurtado, professor and higher education scholar from UCLA; Michael Cronin, vice chairman of the Board of Trustees; Henry Nasella, director of fundraising for the Board of Trustees; and Katherine McHugh, a 25-year veteran of the Board. At the dinner’s conclusion, the President surprised Chairman Neal Finnegan by presenting him with the first ever Presidential Medallion for his 10 years of service as chair.

• Hebrew College and Northeastern Celebrate New Partnership

President Joseph Aoun and Hebrew College President David Gordis held a special dinner in the Alumni Center to celebrate the two schools new partnership. The two schools have agreed to collaborate in one of the most expansive and extraordinary partnerships between a private university and a Jewish college. It will be a catalyst for bringing knowledge and understanding of Jewish life to the Greater Boston community and to the nation.

• Northeastern Fetes the Family of Anthony Manganaro, E’67

President Aoun hosted a special dinner at the Fenway Center to honor and thank the family of Anthony Manganaro for their unwavering support of the Torch Scholars program . Recently, the Manganaros bolstered the unique and highly successful program with a gift of $7.5 million. Anthony, and Michelle Manganaro and their children Todd Manganaro, BA '95, and Nicole D'Amore, L'97, helped to develop and launch the program with an initial gift of $1.25 million.

A group of predominantly Greek-American trustees, students, alumni and family members of Professor Hercules Geromanos, gathered to celebrate the unveiling of a commemorative plaque honoring the man who introduced the concept of co-operative education to Northeastern.
