nuSERVES
Overview
The newest program at the Center of Community Service, nuSERVES, will offer fifty incoming College of Arts and Science first-year Northeastern students an opportunity to explore their new community through a community service experience. Students will learn about issues affecting urban environments through the integration of educational workshops, trainings, and reflection. This knowledge will then be applied to various service projects in the community.
Not only will nuSERVES challenge participants’ perceptions and assumptions, it will encourage them to advocate for solutions, take action in their new community, and make long lasting friendships prior to the start of classes in the fall.
The theme for 2008 will be hunger and homelessness, and all education and service will be focused around these issues. The program will be coordinated by student leaders, and will run from September 2nd through September 5th.
Note: The 2008 program is currently full. If you are interested in more information or to learn about next year's program, please email nuserves@gmail.com. Thank you!
