Commencement is a time of great celebration. It is also a time for each graduate to reflect on both accomplishments and what the future might hold.

We want to present commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients who will provide inspiration to our graduates and who are exemplars of a life of fulfillment and accomplishment. We seek people who have laudable professional and personal accomplishments, who are known nationally and internationally. Ideally we would like to present people who have had an impact on addressing global and societal needs. We are asking for your help in identifying such people.

To be considered for the honor of giving the commencement address or of receiving an honorary degree, a person may have made valuable contributions to society through any of a myriad of ways: public service, scholarship, arts, business, charitable works, etc. We are always particularly interested in inviting people whose lives and careers have a particular resonance with Northeastern’s values. Individuals who are currently seeking political office are not eligible.

Because people of the caliber described above are often in heavy demand it is helpful when we have a direct contact to him or her, that is, if someone in the Northeastern community knows the person.
