Step IV: Explore Internships and Resources

Internships can give you valuable experience working for an employer in your chosen field or one you want to explore. They can help you with your career decision-making process by allowing you to “test the waters” to see what a field is really about. Internships can be paid or unpaid, part time or full time.

While many companies have formal internship programs, many students create their own. Especially if you are not participating in co-op, you’ll find that internships pay off in real-world work experience that enhances your resume and gives you an edge in a job search.

For internships which require academic credit, Career Services offers MCOPU181, Internship for Career Decision Making, a one-credit elective. Email Tina Mello @t.mello for more information.
