Purchasing - Minority Business Program
Policy
PURPOSE: To establish a policy for using Minority Business Enterprises (MBE's) to further the University's commitment to the principles of equal opportunity.
DEFINITIONS: Minority Business Enterprises (MBE): A business owned, operated, and controlled by a person(s) who is a member of one of the following groups: African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian American (Chinese, Korean, from India, Japan, Pacific Islander), or Cape Verdean.
SCOPE: Applies to all Northeastern University employees.
POLICY:
2. Achieve annual goal of 5% minority business participation.
3. Develop plans for subcontracting the maximum practical volume of the University's purchases with Minority Business Enterprises.
4. Increase the number of Minority Business Enterprises in the University's vendor base.
5. Where stipulated by local agency ordinances, the University requires general contractors to comply with guidelines for minority business participation and workforce composition on specified construction projects.
